Horse Cutting; Not Just a Lifestyle, But a Passion

In 1919, the Southwestern Exposition and Fat Stock Show in Fort Worth, Texas became the first recorded arena cutting - when they added a cutting horse exhibition to the annual rodeo.

What is cutting?

It’s an equestrian competition that requires the horse and rider to separate a cow from its herd and keep it separated for a determined period. During these competitions, the rider uses a cutting horse. A cutting horse is suited for working with livestock, little cattle and/or sheep. These horses use cow reading abilities that allow it to anticipate and block the cow’s attempts to return to its herd.
