Meet the Interns: Class of 2022

We are excited to announce our interns for our inaugural class of 2022. Let’s meet them in their own words.

Lauren

My name is Lauren. I’m a senior at Tarleton State University (Go Texans), and I love dogs, traveling and everything western! Born and raised a military brat – child of a parent, serving full-time in the United States Armed Forces– I have lived in Hawaii, New Mexico, Nebraska, and am currently living in Texas.

Being a military brat, there are a lot of perks, like traveling, and that’s where I found my love for road trips. If you put a car and some snacks in front of me, you best believe I will hit the road going anywhere. If you tell me there's a rodeo happening this weekend in Wyoming, well, I’m headed north.

We all love dogs, at least we all should love dogs… but do you love dogs to the point where you’re that person at a party who is hanging out with the dog instead of the guests? I am, and this new role of mine at WLS allows me to meet some gosh darn cute dogs at rodeos and events. In fact, I have a big surprise in the form of a new fur baby that I will share with y’all very soon!

This new role at Western Life & Style allows me to take road trips, get more involved in thewestern industry and meet new dogs! Oh, and people. I will be attending rodeos, doing Instagram take-overs consisting of behind-the-scenes footage of the athletes and rodeo/western fashion inspo. I will also post articles based on my experiences for the Western Life & Style website. So, join me on this incredible new journey to stay up to date on all things western!

Madeline

Cowboy gal, cinch maker, wannabe poet.

That’s what makes me, me.

Hi there! I’m Madeline and I have been given the opportunity to be an intern for Western Life and Style. I come from a small town in northern most part of California where my passion for all things cowboy and western began. I raised my own commercial beef herd through my registered Heart M brand and spent many of my days trailing cattle up the beach and through the wind sweeped hills.

I moved to Wyoming a little over a year ago for a ranch internship and haven’t left since. I spent nearly everyday cowboying through the sagebrush and snow and began to depict my daily happenings through poems. I started making cinches and all things mohair as a hobby which has led to a side hustle. When I wasn’t working, you could find me looking for deer and elk sheds, fishing, or baking batches of cinnamon rolls or frying up fresh donuts for the next day's work.

I currently attend the University of Wyoming as an agricultural communications major with an agriculture business minor. I’ve realized over the last couple of years what I want to do most. I want to depict the cowboy and western lifestyle in the most authentic and real way possible. I hope to write articles and poems as a future career while cowboying my days away and cooking for my own ranch crew.

I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity and cannot wait to see where it takes me!

Jacqueline

Hi there! My name is Jacqueline and I am from the Bay Area, California. I am so excited to be writing for Western Life and Style. Being from the bay, there are not many opportunities like this. I didn’t come from a rodeo family or grow up herding cattle. Though I do not come from the typical “western life”, I believe western life and fashion is something that can be enjoyed by many! I have always had a love for all things western ever since I was young. The western style isn't too common where I am from. I remember wearing jeans and boots to highschool and having people stare and take photos of me. I learned that it does not matter what anyone thinks as long as I am confident in who I am. I kept dressing up and kept marching to my own beat. About two years ago, I started making western clothing for myself. A few months later, I started selling to people in my hometown. Now, I have sold to many customers across the United States. The western lifestyle has made me confident in who I am and I am so excited to share the incredible way of life with all of you!

Julianna

Hey Everyone!

My name is Julianna and I’m a born and raised Floridian. My ties to the Western industry go as far back as I can remember. My family has competed in rodeo for generations and I did so myself for a short period. I danced competitively growing up which was my main sport but I still love to ride and go support my family at rodeos whenever they compete. Not only have I seen the competing side of rodeo I also have gotten to learn what goes into producing a rodeo and the business side of the industry as well. My grandpa, Troy Weekley, started producing rodeos in 1986 and still does so today in my hometown of Davie, Florida. I truly respect the time, energy, and commitment that goes into the sport and the people that make it happen in all areas. Currently, I’m in law school and I hope to pursue a career in construction or agriculture law. Because of my love of rodeo and the western world I wanted to find an opportunity that could connect me to that and my love of writing. I wanted to be able to share stories about what goes into and out of the arena. Not to mention, writing more about the fashion that is so amazing in this industry! When I saw Western Life & Style was creating an internship program, I knew I had to apply because it would be the perfect opportunity to do that. Now, here I am joining the intern class of 2022, I’m exciting to get writing and sharing stories about the Western life I love and admire so much!
